Ledgerback Digital Commons Research Cooperative (Ledgerback) is seeking a Communications Lead to join our small and dynamic team.

Ledgerback is a research nonprofit and cooperative at the forefront of technology, innovation, research, and governance ("the frontier"). Ledgerback provides interdisciplinary research, digital tools, and other resources to members of academia, industry, and society, to build knowledge and improve decision-making on frontier-related topics.



Role Summary


The Communications Lead will be responsible for strategising and executing a consistent and thoughtful communications plan, seeing through the design and production of research outputs, media, and other content, and liaising with media professionals to report on Ledgerback’s work.

Qualifications & Skills


- Holds an undergraduate degree (bachelors or associates) or currently enrolled in graduate studies in communications, marketing, business, journalism, graphic design, or a related field

- Proficiency in English.

- Knowledge of social media scheduling tools and experience and skills in social media growth.

- Interested in frontier-related topics, such as decentralized technologies, digital infrastructure, and alternative ownership.

- Ability to persistently cold-call and liaise with media professionals to promote Ledgerback's work.

- Experience in scientific communications is a plus.

- Experience with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Canva is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging and package content for different audiences and platforms.

- Proficiency of social media channels and familiarity with digital marketing platforms, and content management systems.


Responsibilities


- Regularly update the Ledgerback website and manage social media accounts

- Develop and execute on digital marketing strategies to expand Ledgerback’s online presence and reach

- Monitor social media trends and engage with the community to increase reach and impact.

- Monitor and report on progress on digital marketing trategies.

- Assist with other miscellaneous research/communication activities within Ledgerback

- Post on social media at a regular, consistent cadence

- Review and assess communication strategies and tactics in grant applications.

- Create engaging content across various platforms, including without limitation: press releases, website copy, social media posts, newsletters, and PowerPoint presentations.

- Identify and cultivate new relationships with individuals, projects, institutions, and other stakeholders to create opportunities for increased promotion of Ledgerback’s offerings and mission.
